An intensifying low pressure system over Indiana will track slowly northeastward toward the lower Great Lakes today. Snow in advance of this system has spread north and east of London and will affect the rest of Southwestern Ontario later this morning. The snow is expected to continue into the evening hours tonight then taper off from west to east overnight. For most areas, especially those near the Lake Erie shoreline, the precipitation will likely change to wet snow or rain later today, with some freezing rain also probable. Windsor and Chatham have already received about 10 cm of snow so far and total snowfall amounts for this storm are forecast to reach about 15 cm. Regions that receive mixed precipitation in the form of wet snow or freezing rain can expect to see slightly lesser amounts in the 10 to 15 cm range. The combination of heavy snow, wet snow, and freezing rain will create treacherous driving conditions. Environment Canada continues to monitor the situation and will update warnings accordingly.
