Ik bedoel er niet alleen of in de eerste plaats de reactie mee van Panny. Maar meer de reacties in het algemeen. Het is waar dat de Kerk vaak door lijden gelouterd wordt.

Maar juist in tijden zoals we die nu beleven, werkt de satan veel en ook als een engel des lichts, en dan kent hij de Schrift vaak beter dan wij. Wel vreemd dat het aantal zelfmoorden in die "gelukkige"landen erg hoog is. In Europa Finland en wereldwijd Japan

Naar zelfmoorden zijn interessante onderzoeken gedaan.
De cijfers zijn verschrikkelijk: in de leeftijd van 15 tot 34 jaar is dit doodsoorzaak nummer 1.
En wereldwijd overlijden er gemiddeld per jaar meer mensen aan zelfmoord dan aan alle slachtoffers, moorden, oorlogen en natuurrampen bij elkaar opgeteld.

Het aantal zelfmoorden lijkt niets te maken te hebben met de welvaart van een land.
Voor het grootste gedeelte zijn de aantallen zelfmoorden te verklaren door het sociale netwerk waar een persoon zich in bevind. Juist in het rijke westen stijgen de aantal zelfmoorden doordat sociale netwerken wegvallen: denk bijvoorbeeld aan de rol van de kerk of allerlei andere sociale verbanden. Onder Joden, christenen of moslims zijn de zelfmoordcijfers lager dan onder atheïsten.
Onder Joden zijn de cijfers nog lager dan onder christenen. Dit schijnt te komen doordat de sociale netwerken onder Joden nog hechter zijn.
Onder alleenstaanden zijn de cijfers ook hoger dan onder getrouwde mensen, en helemaal hoog onder gescheiden mensen. Getrouwde mensen hebben niet alleen een man/vrouw en kinderen, maar ze ontmoeten ook mensen op de school van hun kinderen, sportclub, etc.

Wat de overheid dus moet doen is alle mensen naar de kerk sturen en trouwen en kinderen krijgen stimuleren.

Er zijn in Ierland ook katholieke terroristen en in Duitsland ook atheïstische terroristen geweest.

Iedere vorm van extremisme in een ideologie kan tot dit soort gedrag leiden. Zelfs zou je Bijbelteksten voor geweld kunnen misbruiken, al vereist dat wat meer geestelijke lenigheid dan een beroep op de Koran.

Maar het heeft geen zin de extremistische interpretatie van de islam alle moslims in de schoenen te schuiven, dat zorgt alleen maar voor terechte verontwaardiging. Denk je in dat leden van één klein reformatorisch kerkgenootschap ook aanslagen zouden aan plegen, en dat alle christenen daarop werden aangekeken. Dat zou je toch ook vervelend vinden?
